About the role Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Administration Office r to join our busy Emergency Department on a permanent part-time basis (16 hours per week) . This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting one of Queensland’s most dynamic and fast-paced healthcare environments, contributing to exceptional patient care within a collaborative and compassionate team. The department offers a 24-hour comprehensive emergency service for adult patients, staffed by experienced emergency doctors, nurses, training registrars and house officers. The department provides care to adolescents and adults with a full range of acute illness and injuries including Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Orthopaedics and Gynaecological emergencies. Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 access to many staff benefits! What you’ll be doing In this pivotal position, you’ll ensure the smooth operation of administrative processes that support the efficient delivery of care to patients. You will: Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and clinical teams Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers while maintaining accurate documentation Deliver timely administrative support to medical and nursing staff across the department Uphold confidentiality and accuracy in all record-keeping, correspondence, and reporting Exercise initiative and problem-solving skills in a dynamic, 24/7 emergency setting Shifts operate on a rotating roster across mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, and public holidays to support 24-hour service delivery. About you You’ll be an adaptable and experienced administrator who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. Your strong organisational and interpersonal skills will ensure you can balance competing priorities with professionalism and care. You will have: Demonstrated experience providing administrative support in a medical or hospital environment Excellent time management and organisational skills within a busy setting Strong computer literacy, including experience with patient administration systems (or ability to learn quickly) Outstanding customer service and communication skills Proven ability to maintain discretion, accuracy, and confidentiality in all tasks Why join us?
