Tintern Grammar is seeking a dedicated and experienced Violin/Viola teacher to commence Term 1 2026 About the Role The role includes approximately 5–6 hours of individual teaching per week, ideally spread across two days, to students in Years 3 to 9. In addition to individual tuition, the position involves participation in key ensemble and group teaching activities. The successful applicant must be available on Thursdays to co-teach the Year 3/4 String Program alongside the Head of Strings and our Cello specialist. Availability on Wednesday afternoons is also favourable, with a preference for assisting with our intermediate-level string orchestra after school. There is also an opportunity to tutor a small ensemble, such as a string quartet, as part of the school’s broader co-curricular music program. Additional responsibilities include: Preparing students for performances, examinations, and ensemble participation Writing student reports Supporting the school’s performance calendar Contributing positively to the musical life of the school Collaborating with the music and string-teaching team About you The successful applicant will be well organised, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a collaborative approach to working within a dynamic music and string teaching team. A high level of technical proficiency on their instrument and experience as a performing musician are desirable. Music teaching experience should be in evidence.
