Job Description Your New Role Reporting to the Senior Development Director, you will lead the strategic delivery of one of Development Victoria’s major urban renewal or residential precincts. These roles offer the opportunity to shape vibrant communities and deliver lasting public value across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Available Opportunities: Docklands – Drive the next phase of one of Australia’s most ambitious urban renewal projects, revitalising waterfront and community spaces. East Werribee & Valley Lake Boulevard – Lead two significant residential developments aligned with government housing and economic priorities. Hazelwynde, Riverwalk & Cairnlea (12-month parental leave cover) – Deliver large-scale residential communities, including a 740-hectare landholding and a well-established partnership project. Each role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to Development Victoria’s mission of creating places that matter. Executive contracts are for up to five years, with one role offered as a 12-month maternity leave cover. Core Accountabilities: Drive Project Excellence: Set clear goals, define expectations, and hold team members accountable for performance through regular, constructive feedback and coaching. Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with the Senior Director to identify and engage key stakeholders, proactively managing risks to ensure timely and successful project delivery. Lead with Purpose: Foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture built on accountability, empowerment, and shared success. Deliver Complex Projects: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of housing and precinct projects, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, within budget, and to scope. Shape Commercial Strategy: Support the development and execution of project delivery strategies, integrating planning, design, and financial considerations. Champion Impact: Embed priorities such as First Peoples engagement, sustainability, and social outcomes into project delivery. Ensure Governance & Compliance: Establish robust governance frameworks and reporting systems. Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership and governance bodies. Lead High-Level Reporting: Prepare Board and Investment Committee papers, and contribute to corporate documents including Annual Reports, Ministerial Briefs, and Corporate Plans. Procure & Manage Partnerships: Lead procurement of consultants and contractors, manage key contracts, and drive commercial outcomes while minimising risk. Engage Across Sectors: Build and maintain strong relationships with industry, government, and community stakeholders, including leading negotiations with development partners and agencies. Desired Skills and Experience About You Tertiary degree or higher qualification in property, architecture, design, engineering, project management, construction or related fields. A demonstrated record of achievement in the management and delivery of major construction, infrastructure or property and land development projects characterised by competing priorities and public scrutiny. A proven track record in the timely delivery of housing projects spanning land development, house and townhouse construction and medium density apartment delivery. Broad ranging experience in the leadership and management of people and teams in a development related field. Technical experience in planning and development, infrastructure, property and commercial environments, in both public and private sectors. Experience in maintaining networks at peak body level in government, industry and the community, including negotiation, influencing, consultation and stakeholder engagement expertise. A proven track record in managing multiple complex stakeholder relationships and liaising with senior management and executive to resolve issues and obtain approvals.
