As the Principal Policy Officer in the Manufacturing Strategy team, you'll take the lead on shaping procurement and strategic policy initiatives that support Queensland's thriving manufacturing sector. This 6-month temporary AO7 role is based in Brisbane or one of Queensland's regional Manufacturing Hubs. Each day could involve preparing ministerial briefings, leading the department's engagement with the Queensland Manufacturing Advisory Council (QMAC), or driving key initiatives related to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. You might start the day reviewing a procurement opportunity with a local manufacturer, follow up with stakeholders across government, and wrap up by presenting strategic recommendations to senior leadership. You'll oversee the delivery of cross-agency projects, write high-level advice, and manage briefing packs, submissions and stakeholder materials for executive audiences. You'll coordinate meetings, monitor QMAC actions, and support initiatives across manufacturing policy and procurement. Your ability to engage effectively with industry, internal teams, and other departments will be critical to advancing shared priorities. The role demands strong writing, relationship-building, and project management skills , with a healthy dose of political acumen and curiosity about how government policy can drive real-world outcomes.
