Your Role Join our dedicated team at St John of God Hospital Midland , providing compassionate and holistic care to patients requiring palliative care support. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Palliative Care Nurse Consultant and other Palliative Care Consultants, to coordinate, supervise, and deliver high-quality palliative care services. You will oversee and guide the clinical management of patients requiring palliative care, ensuring excellence in the inpatient setting through hospital consultations. This role is for 0.1 FTE (8 hours per fortnight) The Position Coordinates and supervises clinical care provided to patients requiring palliative care. Undertakes clinical care including inpatient, outpatient and hospital consultancy work. Participates in multidisciplinary palliative care meetings as required. Conducts and supervises caregiver education including orientation of new staff and the introduction of new developments in patient care. Participates in the education and supervision of the medical students and Doctors on placement. Provides supervision of junior medical staff, including assessment of staff performance in relation to clinical competence, adherence to palliative care protocols, timely and accurate documentation, communication with patients, relatives, peers, other staff and Doctors in other hospitals and in the community. Liaises with specialists, general practitioners and other services as necessary to ensure coordinated patient care. Commitment to the highest professional standards and ethics. In conjunction with the Palliative Care Nurse Consultant deals with complaints concerning the Palliative Care Service and ensures adequate documentation is maintained. Undertakes other tasks as requested by the Head of Department. You will have registration from the Medical Board of Australia and have Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine or Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FAChPM) Applicants who are close to completions of their fellowship training are encouraged to apply. You will possess advanced knowledge, clinical expertise, and well-developed skills in Palliative Medicine, with the ability to foster skill development and clinical excellence within the team. Experience in research and relevant postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
