Primary Location VIC - Clayton Job Description Summary Service Stream's VRMC group are on the hunt for a new Network Inspector to join the team! About the Role As part of the Victorian Road Maintenance Contract (VRMC) – South Central Region, Service Stream will be working across Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs and right down the Mornington Peninsula, delivering routine maintenance, emergency response and defect rectification works, as well as network refurbishment and upgrade projects, under a major long-term contract with the Victorian Government. And we need great people to help us do that. Reporting to the Inspections Lead, the Network Inspector contributes to safe, compliant and efficient completion of the VRMC Routine Inspection Program. Starting and finishing each day with a virtual or in-person Inspection team briefing, in a typical week you’ll spend around 75% of your time in the field. Key Responsibilities: Inspecting, assessing and reporting on status and condition of pavement and roadside assets in line with Section 750 PB requirements, contract specifications and internal processes Uploading inspection data to IRIS (Service Stream’s Intelligent Road Information System) in line with Section 750 PB requirements and data management processes Identifying hazards requiring urgent rectification, following defined work processes including scoping activities, raising work orders in IRIS and liaising with the Pre-Works team to prioritise rectification Consistently meet key performance indicators and scheduled work targets, while remaining flexible to adapt to evolving business needs—ensuring all tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Communicating effectively with our Network Intelligence Operations Centre (NIOC) and other stakeholders internally and externally Contributing to the development and improvement of inspection procedures and processes, including inspection data collection and management processes Maintaining a strong safety focus while operating a vehicle and identifying network issues through attentive and detail-oriented field inspections. About You: Minimum five years’ experience in a road maintenance or civil works environment Minimum two years’ experience carrying out inspections of bridges and/or other structural assets on state or local road networks Performing inspections with a focus on worker, road user and community safety, complying with legislative standards, contract specifications and internal quality processes High levels of self-motivation, exceptional time-management skills and a proven ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision Experience with asset databases and GIS-based systems, underpinned by a sound knowledge of asset management principles Strong verbal communication, data analysis, report writing, computer literacy and administration skills A current Open Victorian driver’s license is mandatory Level 1 Structures Inspector accreditation is desirable but not essential Formal qualifications (Cert III or higher) in civil construction are a bonus, but not essential if you can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and capability.
