About the role The AODS service provides evidence based treatments including Queensland Opioid Treatment Program, substance withdrawal management and counselling. HHS wide consultation/ liaison, information, education, training is also provided. AODS works collaboratively with Ipswich Hospital to assist with early diagnosis of patients with substance use disorders, prevent complications, reduce length of stay, facilitate effective discharge planning/community aftercare and avoid re-admissions. The position of Staff Specialist Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (AODS) will focus on the needs of consumers presenting with acute mental health needs and/or opioid and other drug dependence. About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following: Demonstrated extensive knowledge, expertise and skill in the assessment and clinical management of people with mental illness in a specialised mental health service setting. Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills including the ability to provide high level clinical leadership advice and direction within a multidisciplinary team and to relevant stakeholders. Skills should include the ability to effectively problem solve and resolve conflict. Demonstrated commitment to leading mental health recovery model of care, evidence based practice and continuous quality improvement to enhance service delivery outcomes. Demonstrated expert level of national and state mental health directions and legislation relevant to the provision of specialist mental health services. Demonstrated experience in the provision of effective training of junior medical staff.
