The Sustainability Project Engineer plays a key technical role in driving the implementation of environmental and sustainability projects across Vinarchy’s winery operations. Reporting to the Global Transformation Director, you will lead initiatives that make a measurable impact — from carbon abatement and wastewater treatment upgrades to sustainable irrigation and land stewardship. Key Responsibilities • Lead the design, delivery and optimisation of sustainable irrigation and water reuse projects. • Drive improvements in wastewater treatment systems (e.g. covered anaerobic lagoons, and reuse infrastructure). • Identify, scope, and lead engineering delivery of decarbonisation projects, including renewable energy, heat recovery, electrification, and process optimisation. • Ensure technical solutions align with Vinarchy’s science-based targets and net-zero roadmap. • Contribute to nature-positive program design and land use impact assessments relating to sustainable irrigation. • Optimise performance and compliance of water systems in line with environmental standards and site licence conditions. • Identify, assess, and manage environmental risks associated with soil, groundwater, and legacy site contamination. • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and reporting obligations related to land and groundwater contamination. • Partner with engineering, operations, and finance teams to deliver capital projects on time and budget What You’ll Bring: • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil or Process Engineering (or related discipline) • 10 years of experience in sustainability, water treatment, or environmental project delivery • Proven track record in engineering project management, ideally within manufacturing, agribusiness, or utilities • Knowledge of decarbonisation technologies, wastewater systems, and irrigation infrastructure • Strong understanding of environmental compliance and sustainability frameworks • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software. • The ability to work in a self-directed manner and as part of a team. • Possess initiative and problem-solving capabilities. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Highly developed observational skills and attention to detail.
