Lead data strategy for the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme Temporary full-time opportunity upto 30 Jun 2028, 35 hours/week Office location – Parramatta with flexible working (other NSW locations are negotiable) Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $ 134,421 to $ 148,239 super & leave loading The Digital Transformation branch within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) IT group is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) team as the Domain Data Lead . This is an exciting opportunity to lead initiatives that improve data quality, accessibility, and integration, ensuring our data assets deliver maximum value for decision-making. About the Role As the Domain Data Lead, you will: Develop and maintain the BOS data catalogue and ensure data is consistently represented across the BOS data domain. Manage and support a Data Analyst responsible for maintaining and optimising our analytical data environment within Microsoft Fabric. Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to implement metadata standards, role-based access controls, and data stewardship practices. Support new data sources integrations and reporting statutory registers. Implement the DECCEWW data governance strategy for the BOS data domain. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise and excellent stakeholder engagement skills. About You You are a strategic thinker with experience in data management and stakeholder engagement. You have: Hands-on experience with modern data platforms, ideally Microsoft Fabric, and related tools such as Microsoft Purview. Knowledge of data privacy regulations and their application in organisational contexts. Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across diverse stakeholder groups. A commitment to continuous improvement and capability uplift within your team and the broader organisation. Essential Requirements Formal qualifications in Information Management, Data Analytics, or a related field; or demonstrated equivalent experience. Proven experience managing analytical environments and supporting data integration and quality assurance processes. Key Knowledge and Experience Familiarity with data privacy regulations (such as the Australian Privacy Act). Experience with metadata management, role-based access control, and data cataloguing. Ability to embed best practices in complex and evolving data environments.
