With continued growth across both retail and wholesale operations, Biviano & Sons is seeking an experienced Retail Buyer to manage the selection, sourcing and purchasing of goods for its retail business. About the Role The Retail Buyer will be responsible for planning, selecting, and purchasing a range of products that meet customer demand, align with seasonal availability, and support the company’s growth objectives. This role requires strong negotiation skills, a keen understanding of consumer trends, and the ability to maintain effective supplier relationships to ensure optimal quality, range, and pricing. Key Responsibilities Plan and select a range of products for sale in the retail store and online channels. Analyse sales data, stock levels and consumer trends to forecast demand. Identify and source new products and suppliers that align with the company’s brand and standards. Negotiate purchasing terms, including price, quantities and delivery schedules. Build and maintain long-term relationships with growers, producers and distributors. Monitor supplier performance and product quality to ensure consistent standards. Manage stock levels, replenishment schedules and seasonal purchasing plans. Work with store and warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate product deliveries. Develop and implement buying strategies that support sales and margin targets. Review product performance and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly. Conduct regular competitor and market analysis to identify trends and opportunities. Maintain compliance with food safety and quality standards. Prepare and present regular reports on purchasing performance and inventory status. Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to support promotions and special events. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in buying, pricing and supplier management. What We Are Looking For Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a buying, retail, or merchandising role (preferably in fresh produce, grocery or FMCG). Qualification in Retail Management, Business, Supply Chain, Commerce, or a related field. Strong analytical and negotiation skills with attention to detail. Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and meet budget and margin goals. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, seasonal environment with shifting priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with stock management or purchasing systems.
