An opportunity has become available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (General Paediatrician - Identified) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia. About the role Provide culturally safe clinical specialist Paediatrician support to the Waijungbah Jarjums Child Health service, making a substantial contribution to the development of culturally safe medical education and safe, patient centered clinical practice. Requirements for the role Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis screening. Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed. MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRACP or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and registrable as a General Paediatrics specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Strong clinical and community experience in working collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Training and/or experience in providing culturally safe care/practice for First Nations clients is highly desirable. While not mandatory, experience in Community and Development Paediatrics would be well regarded.
