About the work unit / facility The Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (SMHRU) at Townsville University Hospital provides a structured, recovery-oriented environment for up to 25 consumers. Competitive salary and benefits Salary between $4138.10 - $4431.10 per fortnight (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1). 4 to 6 weeks p.a. recreational leave with 14-17.5% loading. About your opportunity As a Clinical Nurse in the SMHRU, you will provide advanced nursing care, leadership, and education within a secure mental health setting. You will coordinate care, support recovery-focused interventions, and contribute to clinical governance and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a nurse passionate about mental health rehabilitation and committed to excellence in patient care. Requirements Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification. Current registration with AHPRA and a valid practising certificate. Evidence of vaccination against VPDs and TB screening as per Queensland Health policy. Possession of or working towards post-registration qualifications in mental health nursing (highly desirable). Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016 (highly desirable). Ability to work all shifts, including on-call, as per roster. Class C driver licence and willingness to travel for cultural support needs. * A probationary period may apply.
