Key Responsibilities In alignment with industry-standards for a Motor Mechanic and the company’s fleet-maintenance needs, the successful candidate will: Perform scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairs on light vehicles and cabs within the company fleet. Diagnose faults, inspect braking, steering, suspension, engine, transmission and electrical systems, and rectify issues accordingly. Carry out routine inspections, log-book servicing and pre-trip/post-trip checks to ensure vehicles comply with regulatory and safety standards. Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records and service history in the workshop management system. Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, order parts as required and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery. Test drive repaired vehicles to verify the repair quality and safe operation before returning to service. Ensure all workshop tools, equipment and workspaces are maintained in good order and meet health & safety requirements. Assist with the decommissioning of vehicles (where applicable) including disposal or resale preparation. Collaborate with fleet operations and drivers to schedule maintenance and minimise service downtime. Respond to breakdowns or on-road faults (if required) and provide repair or call-out service to return vehicles to service swiftly. Ensure compliance with transport fleet regulations (NSW vehicle standards, registration, inspection requirements) and company policies. Identify and recommend opportunities for cost efficiencies, reliability improvement and fleet optimisation. Keep up to date with new vehicle technologies, diagnostic systems and best-practice maintenance methods. Maintain a professional workshop environment and promote a positive team culture. What We Are Looking For Minimum 1 year of experience working as a motor mechanic in a busy workshop, fleet or transport environment. Trade certificate (e.g., Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology) or equivalent qualification in automotive/mechanical servicing. Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical systems, diagnostics, fault-finding and repair processes. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to liaise with drivers, operations staff and suppliers. Comfortable working to production demands and prioritising tasks to minimise vehicle downtime. Valid Australian driver’s licence and own tools preferred.
