Part Time (0.5FTE), Fixed Term for 1 year Work alongside internationally renowned experts in the field actively engaging in workshops, conferences, performance and other collaborative opportunities Academic Level A $109,301 pro rata 17% superannuation Commence on 1 February 2026 About the opportunity Associate Professor Dalia Nassar is leading a project, with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, on Extending New Narratives in the History of Philosophy, working on women’s contributions to the history of philosophy. The School is inviting applications for the Lucy Firth Postdoctoral Research Associate in Philosophy . While the focus of research is open, applicants with interest in 18th and 19th century women philosophers, and/or women philosophers writing in aesthetics and the philosophy of nature, would be particularly welcome. Specific topics of focus are women’s contributions to the history of philosophy. Your key responsibilities will be to: lead an original research project developed in discussion with Dalia Nassar collaborate on specific sub-projects developed together with Dalia Nassar present results of research at conferences, and other settings (e.g. guest lectures, workshops) both in Australia and internationally collaborate on publications in the form of written articles, an edited book, and participate in public facing communications (including radio, television, social media outlets) assist in developing/co-ordinating research activities (eg: workshops and conferences) and participate in the setting of future research directions of the project assist with the mentoring of the PhD students related to the project. About you a PhD in an area related to philosophy or the history of philosophy research or proven track-record on women in the history of philosophy strong track record of outstanding research of national or international standing excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated experience in collaborative processes with demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team demonstrated capacity to deliver high-quality project outcomes in a timely manner Sponsorship / work rights for Australia You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply.
