The role of Technical Sales Representative is a highly visible position within the business. This role is to be performed with the highest level of integrity as you are directly representing the company’s good reputation. It is also acutely important to listen to customers and to communicate industry changes to management to enable development of new products and supply channels to fully satisfy customer demands. A. Management Reporting Report on customer activity, sales reports and the marketability of goods and services and maintaining and submitting records of business expenses incurred in the sales process. Monitoring customers' changing needs and competitor activity and reporting these developments to any negative customer feedback to Managing Director. B. Sales Tasks 1. Actively promote the business and products, keep customers informed of new developments verbally, via meetings, electronically or via printed catalogues & promotions. 2. Develop new customer by compiling lists of prospective client businesses using directories and other sources. 3. Increase opportunities with customers by acquiring and updating knowledge of employers' and competitors' goods and services and market conditions. 4. Liaise with suppliers, promote and enhance supply channels. 5. A ssess customers' needs, recommending and explaining our goods and services to them. 6. Q uoting, negotiating prices and credit terms, completing contracts and recording orders . 7. Arranging delivery of goods, installation of equipment and the provision of services. 8. Visiting regular and prospective client businesses to establish and act on selling opportunities 9. Following up with clients to ensure satisfaction with goods and services purchased, and resolving any problems arising 12. Assist customers with technical information, test reports or other documents 13. Maintain customer quote database to ensure all records are as accurate and up to date as possible for marketing purposes. 14. Maintain customer master file, ensuring all contacts details and billing information is current. 15. Make recommendations in relation to stock, new product or strategic alliances with customers or supplies that may benefit the business. C. Purchasing Responsibilities 1. Placement of stock purchase orders with suppliers with maximum value of $50000.00 AUD per order, excluding GST. Orders above this value require the approval of the Managing Director. 2. Placement of consumable purchase orders with suppliers with maximum value of $5000.00 AUD per order, excluding GST. Orders above this value require the approval of the Managing Director. 3. Processing of supplier confirmations and updating of delivery dates in Tencia. 4. Approval of stock purchase orders raised by other staff. D. Other Responsibilities 1. Answer Telephones. 2. Maintain good record keeping procedures. 3. Ensure any urgent requirements are followed through to completion. 4. Attend training as required. 5. Attend trade shows and supplier meetings as required. 6. Travel to customer offices for meetings as required. 7. Assist the Marketing department with preparation of technical marketing activities to target customer applications you identify. 8. Other duties as required by the Managing Director. Requirements Minimum 1 - 3 yrs experience in a Technical and Sales environment. Professional Sales Training would be an advantage. Practical trade experience at a technician/trade level is preferred. Experience in connectors and connectivity applications for the electronics industry. Technical writing experience is preferred for preparing customer presentation materials. Good communication skills and telephone manner. Good computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office, creative programs like Adobe Illustrator/photoshop and CRM based software’s_. Good understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems High level of enthusiasm, maturity and professionalism. Good negotiation & problem-solving skills to ensure all tasks are followed through to completion.
