About the OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting opportunity for an Algorithms Engineer to join our Integrated Defence & Autonomous Systems business unit. We are flexible with locations, although Melbourne is the preferred location for this position. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and Hybrid working. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing state-of-the-art autonomous systems, with a specific emphasis on vehicle dynamics and GNC. Key responsibilities include:  Delivery of high-quality technical input to Autonomy projects, including:  Developing models and simulations of complex vehicles and systems  Liaising with customer and supplier stakeholders in support of model development, verification and validation as required  Supporting integration of developed models, algorithms and/or control systems into broader systems as required  Performing assurance activities for the models and simulations to the required standard (internal process and certification bodies, as required)  Performing configuration management on developed work products  Developing tools to support modelling and analysis About YOU  Engineering degree qualified in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline (other fields such as applied Mathematics or Physics may also be suitable)  Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, and experience in at least two major lifecycle phases (i.e. requirements analysis, architectural design, modelling, integration, acceptance testing), in an acquisition or sustainment context  Experience in peer, technical and design reviews, both informal and formal  Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail  Strong ability in defect analysis and rectification  Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment and independently  Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary outcomes  Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain  Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
