About: The Rolex SailGP Championship is the most exciting racing on water, where anything can happen in short, adrenaline-fueled battles between national teams at iconic stadium destinations worldwide. Summary: The Overlay Manager - APAC, leads on the overall site design, site management and technical requirements for all SailGP APAC events. Working closely with the Regional Director, Head of Event and wider APAC teams, this role will be responsible for ensuring the infrastructure is in place for seamless event delivery. This is a contract role with a minimum duration through March 2nd, 2026. Key Responsibilities: Develop detailed site layouts and plans for the event (CAD) covering all aspects of the event including but not limited to, tech site, race stadium (hospitality spaces, grandstands, temporary structures. activations, etc.), operational areas (media centre, broadcast compound, etc.) and satellite sites as required. Plans must include build phases, emergency planning routes, and various other requirements as requested by planning teams. Responsible for building a fully integrated venue design that includes all information required for local and global suppliers to develop plans accordingly and accurately whilst being mindful of the event experience. Review and adjust specifications as needed to meet evolving project needs. Support the management of quotes and specs for all temporary structures, ensuring alignment with operational requirements and availability within the local market. Work collaboratively with the working group (colleagues, Local Production Agency, suppliers and contractors) responsible for the delivery of the temporary installations for all of SailGPs APAC events. Create, manage and maintain a robust project management plan for the event operations ensuring the plan drives efficiency and aligns with all health and safety, risk management and sustainability requirements as per SailGP standards and policies. Collaborate closely with the Americas working group to effectively manage a safe and timely build and de-rig process across all aspects as well as the overall onsite operations. Responsibility for ensuring the structural and technical requirements of teams are met including the Tech Team, Tent Team, global partners (Aggreko, DP World, etc) and Hospitality (cable and fibre routes etc.). Lead on assessing the overall site readiness, ahead of build, arranging relevant works in preparation for first day of build including site marking out to completing pre-event checks before gates opening to report to Event Control. Enforce health and safety compliance alongside SailGP and Local Production Agencies, and suppliers. Key Expectations: Strong competency in AutoCAD and Vectorworks, as well as developing technical scopes and RFP documentation Knowledge of site feasibility studies and surveying practices Knowledge of risk management and health and safety management systems Understanding of structural engineering considerations in context of temporary structures General event operational awareness and experience Experience in resolving on-site issues promptly and effectively to maintain project progress Flexible and adaptable, with the capacity to respond confidently to changing circumstances and demands. Maintain well-organised documentation, including updated drawings, version control, change logs, and relevant project records. Knowledge of crowd management principles, including standard calculations and ratios commonly applied in event planning. Preferably within sports. Strong experience in project management, procurement and budget management Experience in team management and project lead roles overseeing multiple projects in parallel. Experience in developing and overseeing build and derig programs including resource allocation and management. Experience of implementing, owning and enforcing the venue health and safety rules and processes, as necessary for a temporary event.
