Principal Engineer – Floodplain Management (Technical) Location: Strathpine, QLD Rate: $62.59/hr super Contract: Nov 2025 – Apr 2026 (possible extension to Sept 2026) Hours: 36.25 per week | 9 or 10-day fortnight option About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Principal Engineer – Floodplain Management to provide specialist technical expertise and lead complex floodplain investigations for critical community and infrastructure projects. This role provides leave coverage within a highly skilled Drainage, Waterways and Coastal Planning team, ensuring the continued delivery of essential floodplain management programs across the region. Key Responsibilities Deliver expert engineering advice on floodplain management, hydrology, and flood modelling. Lead and review flood studies and risk assessments to support strategic and infrastructure planning. Maintain and enhance flood data systems including the Regional Flood Database (RFD) and Flood Check Property Report (RCPR). Prepare and present complex technical reports, recommendations, and modelling outputs. Contribute to flood warning systems, emergency response support, and technical leadership across the team. Mentor and support junior engineers while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. About You Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent). Strong technical experience in floodplain management planning and design . Proven ability in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, flood data analysis, and reporting . Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Current C-Class Driver’s Licence and eligibility to work in Australia . (Desirable) RPEQ registration .
