Work with a team of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Disability Support Workers (SWs) to assist a local gentleman in maintaining an interesting and fulfilling life. The successful applicant will be competent in working hands on and supporting him to maintain his independence within his home and the community. You will be passionate about community inclusion and confident in taking the initiative. About the gentleman you will be supporting He is 52 years old, interested in The Arts, culture, and social issues. He has severe epilepsy, apraxia, poor cognition, is non-verbal and communicates with support. He is an accomplished writer and poet, having published three poetry books. Epilepsy impacts him daily and this is supported by regular and PRN medication as required with the assistance of his team of RNs and SWs. How you'll make an impact You will work constructively with the team of SWs and RNs and work collaboratively with them to: Assist the gentleman with his daily activities of living and lead a full and rewarding life. Maintain accurate record keeping, i.e., Day to day diary, general information, reports etc. As a patient, flexible and understanding individual with a supportive and caring nature, ideally with experience within the disability sector, you'll have: The ability to listen and work collaboratively with the gentleman and his staff. Commitment to the rights of people with disabilities to live dignified lives. Good communication skills. The ability to think outside the square. The ability to accept responsibility. The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and cope with the physical demands of the job A valid driver's licence. A first aid certificate. Australian Residency Status or valid Australian Working Rights.
