About the role The role of Dental Assistant will work as part of the dental team and provide high standard of assistance as needed in the treatment of patients by Oral Health Service staff and provide efficient and appropriate services. The key accountabilities of the role include: Prepare equipment, instruments and materials utilised in a variety of dental procedures including knowledge and understanding of the stages within a dental procedure and the ability to pre-plan and adapt as treatment proceeds. Accurately and proficiently assist and adapt to an operator where required to provide fourhanded dentistry, retraction and evacuation techniques and application of rubber dam. Use of FDI, Palmers Notation, dental specific language and terminology, and forensic charting. Use quality assurance procedures based on relevant Standards to ensure equipment and surgery are operative including knowledge instruments and use of x-ray quality test tool where available About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following: Demonstrated knowledge of dental terminology and surgery procedures Demonstrated knowledge of relevant equipment, instruments, materials, medicaments, and procedures including safety procedures, Material Safety Data Sheets and Workplace Health and Safety regulations relating to the dental facility Working knowledge of the various acts, regulations and all relevant Standards that relate to dentistry Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-skilled team Ability to effectively co-ordinate procedures related to the oral health environment High level interpersonal skills, organisational skills and communication skills Mandatory Requirements: Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16 Possession of Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent. This role provides health, counselling and support services that involve children will require a blue card.
