About the work unit / facility Townsville Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) is a community-based consultation and liaison service providing assessment and treatment for older adults. It supports GPs and aged care providers by evaluating mental health concerns and recommending care. OPMHS primarily sees individuals over 65, or over 55 for Indigenous people, with first-time mental illness presentations. Younger patients with age-related neurodegenerative conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease, may also be included. The service specialises in the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support of people with dementia.
