About us: The Women and Newborn Unit is composed of Maternity and Gynaecology ward, Neonatal Nursery, Antenatal Clinic, Midwifery Group Practice and Extended Midwifery Services. Approximately 600 babies are born each year in Gladstone. Midwifery and nursing care within the unit is family centred, reflecting the needs of each woman and baby within a safe and sustainable quality system. All women, babies and families have access to evidenced based, culturally competent midwifery and nursing care in a range of settings close to where they live. Appropriately trained and qualified midwifery and nursing health professionals provide continuous or shared maternity care to women and their babies who meet the service capability (CSCF Level 3) of Gladstone Hospital. About the role: The purpose of this role is to provide advanced clinical leadership and clinical expertise relevant to the speciality of midwifery and general nursing. The Midwife Unit Manager (MUM) for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service works in collaboration with the Clinical Midwife Consultant, Midwife Educator and wider CQHHS program team to support the clinical unit in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical midwifery and nursing standards of practice for the specialty of general nursing and midwifery. About you: Current nursing registration as a Registered Midwife and Registered Nurse through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). A relevant postgraduate diploma or Master's degree is an expectation of this position. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan.
