Primary objective Provide allied health assistant and administrative support for clients of the Territory Equipment Program (TEP). The Allied Health Assistant will work collaboratively with the Territory Equipment Program team to provide aids and equipment which support elderly people to remain living in the community. Context statement The Territory Equipment Program aims to assist eligible residents of the Northern Territory, with permanent or long-term functional impairment, by providing prescribed equipment, aids and appliances. The program aims to enhance their safety and independence and to assist them to live and participate in their community. TEP administer the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) Assistive Technology and Home Modifications. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Administer the timely processing of client prescriptions, loan agreements, and equipment reviews; efficient administration of the inventory management system including the ordering, dispatch, issue, return, recovery, retrieval , refurbishment, recycling, reissue, disposal and destruction of equipment; efficient administration of relevant contracts; and reception duties. 2. Provide procurement action on all TEP requisitions in a timely manner including liaising with suppliers on availability of and pricing of goods not covered under contract ensuring that all procurement is conducted in accordance with the requirements of relevant NT Legislation, Acts, Directions and Guidelines and Agency policies and procedures. 3. Administer the accounts payable/receivable processes, in accordance with NT government financial policies and systems including registering new clients in the Government Accounting System (GAS); raising purchase orders in the Electronic Invoicing Management System (EIMS); recording purchase details in CCIS; reconciling delivery dockets with purchase orders on arrival of goods and preparing paperwork to ensure the timely delivery of goods. 4. Maintain information in the Community Care Information System (CCIS), and the client files to a high standard. Utilise records management and archiving procedures. 5. Support the Team Leader and Financial Administration Officer with client filing and general administration tasks, as directed. 6. Participate in work unit functions including quality improvement activities, the development and maintenance of best practice, Departmental meetings, business planning and maintain knowledge of Department policies and procedures. 7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces 8. Work within the legislation of the Northern Territory (NT) and Commonwealth Disability Services Act and work unit guidelines. 9. Selection criteria Essential 1. Demonstrated understanding of the needs and rights of the client group and the services available to them in their home and community. 2. An ability to work under direction and interact effectively with people from different cultures to assist therapists to provide culturally responsive services. 3. Demonstrated time management and organisational skills to ensure clinical and non-clinical duties are carried out efficiently. 4. Working knowledge and experience in procurement policy, sourcing of quotes, and processing financial information. 5. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills in working with clients, their families and the multidisciplinary allied health team. 6. Demonstrated understanding of ethical behaviour, including the application of privacy and confidentiality principles. 7. An awareness of and ability to apply and adhere to organisational policies and core values. 8. Proficiency in use of information technology systems operating in a Microsoft environment. 9. Hold current NT drivers licence or have the ability to obtain Desirable 1. Formal qualifications in Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent.
