PURPOSE OF POSITION Provides timely removal and re-supply of sharps boxes to wards/departments and collection and disposal of garbage and waste material. Operation of compactor and incinerator units. Timely transfer of dirty linen from linen chutes to linen storage room. Effective management and removal of recycled material from department. Removal of red topped “sulo” bins from theatre to loading dock awaiting collection and disposal. Execute an effective delivery of new replacement sharps box containers to all wards and departments. Emptying of garbage chutes. Disposal of garbage by compaction. Maintain chute rooms and compactor in a clean and dust free condition. Remove cardboard boxes from holding areas around Hospital and operates cardboard box compaction machine. Remove garbage containers from Levels 1 and 3 and feed bags into compactor. Collect garbage from outside Villa, Convent, Kitchen, SSU and box rooms and dispose of by compaction. Transport “sulo” bins from Labour Ward and Level 5 to Waste room Level 3. Clear away and dispose infectious rubbish bags from Level 5 and from Pathology to Waste room Level 3.
