About The Division The Chief Information Officer Division (CIO Division) leads the digital agenda for the department, delivering digital offerings and transformation. The division partners with business areas and stakeholders to: Realise the digital policy objectives of the department Define the department’s digital landscape Co-design digital experiences to enable innovation, collaboration and communication Drive ICT service innovation and transformation About The Branch The ICT Operations Branch manages and deploys ICT services to support the organisation. The branch supports: ICT networks and ICT infrastructure Cloud platforms and services On-premises and Hybrid Cloud-based ICT enabling platforms and services End user platforms and services End users – ICT Support, Asset Management, Executive Support ICT-enabled enterprise projects The End User Services team provides high-quality, user-centred digital services that ensure stability, security and reliability for staff and stakeholders. This includes the standard operating environment (SOE), corporate device management, desktop application packaging (including Microsoft 365 Apps), collaboration and communication tools, and remote access services. Your Ideal Candidate As an Endpoint & Messaging Engineer you will contribute your skills in a multi-disciplinary team focused on managing and enhancing quality end-user enabling technologies, including Microsoft Windows SOE, mobile and desktop device management, and enterprise collaboration and communication tools. You will work with team members and leads to organise and prioritise work activities to achieve objectives, while maintaining key business relationships. You must be a good communicator, a team player, and aligned with the APS6 Integrated Leadership System (ILS) expectations. As An Ideal Candidate You Will Have Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Dedication to development as part of a team, including detailed documentation and coaching/training Strong problem-solving or analytical skills with a focus on resolving issues Dedication to quality assurance and continual improvement Ability to work under broad supervision with independence, and collaboratively within a geographically-disperse team Your Key Responsibilities May Include Design, development, maintenance and Level 3 support for the Standard Operating Environment (SOE), including desktop productivity software and corporate device configurations (desktop and mobile) Manage the enterprise messaging and collaboration environment Manage enterprise remote access solutions (virtual desktop and VPN) Packaging and deployment of applications Management of automated patching processes Provide expert technical advice across supported platforms and services, and represent the section in ICT governance and management forums Technologies to consider include: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Exchange (Server and Online), Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise, Microsoft Intune, Group Policy, automation with Microsoft PowerShell. Eligibility To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Notes The department offers flexible work opportunities where possible. The majority of the team is based in the ACT; strong candidates in other locations will be considered. There is an expectation of participation in a rotating roster for on-call support outside normal hours. A merit pool may be established to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
