ONI is recruiting a number of current and possible future vacancies in its senior executive service (SES) at the Band 1 level. These are outstanding opportunities for leaders with initiative, drive, integrity, a depth of experience and a motivation to do work of national significance. To be eligible for these roles, you will have a highly developed understanding of Australia's international political, strategic and economic interests, and a proven record in one or more of several fields including national security, foreign policy, intelligence, international economics, cyber and critical technology or corporate and enabling services. Successful candidates may be responsible for delivering intelligence products to government or delivering enterprise services and coordinating national intelligence efforts across ONI, the National Intelligence Community (NIC) and government more broadly. The key duties of the position include We are looking to fill the following current vacancies: Assistant Director-General Mission Management: Mission Management Division coordinates, integrates and evaluates the NIC's efforts across a key set of intelligence issues and has carriage of several critical relationships. The Division works closely and collaboratively with teams across ONI and with NIC agencies, policy customers and international partners to provide Government with the intelligence products and services it requires. Assistant Director-General Economy Branch: The Economic Analysis Branch produces insightful, timely and forward-looking assessments on economic security and climate change issues to help government make informed policy decisions. The branch identifies and frames emerging issues and integrates analysis across a range of complex issues. It frequently engages the policy community and undertakes wider outreach. Assistant Director-General Quality Assurance Office (QAO): The QAO is responsible for assuring the quality, consistency and transferability of Top Secret-Privileged Access (TS-PA) security clearances and supports the development of insider threat capabilities across the Australian Government. We are also looking to create a merit pool to fill possible future roles in: Intelligence Assessments: delivering timely, relevant and rigorous analysis which is clear and engaging, and readily accessible across a range of customers, overseeing the production of intelligence assessments including in specialist areas such as cyber and critical technology, or specific areas of geographic or thematic focus. NIC Intelligence Missions: leading and managing the NIC's effort in fulfilling intelligence missions. Corporate and Enabling: developing capability and managing corporate enabling and governance functions to support ONI in meeting its objectives, including executive communications and government, human resources, finance, legal, facilities and security functions. Intelligence Production: directing the development and publication of robust intelligence products delivered in effective, technologically sophisticated and innovative ways. Innovation, Science and Research: leading the NIC's engagement with the innovation, science and research sectors, and managing and delivering related projects and investments. Analytical Capability: leading and directing ONI and NIC analytical capability modernisation, including delivering innovative training in analysis and tradecraft, and leading and coordinating ONI's outreach efforts. NIC Enterprise: leading and coordinating effective engagement and collaboration across the NIC and government, including capability and performance evaluation and quality assurance functions. Qualifications: Tertiary level qualifications or equivalent experience in international relations, national security, public policy, economics or another relevant field is desirable.
