The role The Software Engineer designs, builds and delivers innovative digital solutions working across web interfaces, automation, integrations and cloud platforms, applying emerging technologies and software engineering best practices. This is a key role in driving innovation by designing, prototyping and delivering better user experiences that increase productivity and unlock new business capabilities. This role works as part of a dynamic, cross functional team focused on the rapid delivery of impactful business solutions using both existing and emerging technologies including AI, low-code/no-code platforms and advanced integration frameworks. The role will strive for engineering excellence throughout the whole design, delivery and support lifecycle through agile, SecDevOps and human centred design disciplines. Technology partners with stakeholders to design, implement and maintain IT solutions that meet the needs of the organisation and ensuring these are secure and aligned with APRA’s technology architecture Key Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain high-quality digital solutions and services, including web interfaces, system integrations, digital products leveraging from existing platforms and emerging technologies. Build integrated workflows, automation and digital products that improve efficiency and provide seamless digital experiences. Explore and experiment with emerging tools and technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, transforming ideas into functional proof-of-concepts and MVPs. Integrate emerging technologies such as intelligent agents, generative AI models and orchestration platforms into business solutions. Work collaboratively with architects, technical specialists and digital product team to align solutions with strategic goals and user needs. Maintain a strong focus on quality, security and performance across development lifecycles. Develop and maintain APIs and integrations between digital platforms and services. Participate in solution design, architecture discussions, and technology selection for innovation projects. Contribute to best practices, documentation and knowledge sharing to support scalable and sustainable delivery. About you Proven experience as a software engineer with a focus on innovation, emerging technologies and automation. Strong proficiency in Microsoft technologies (M365, D365, Power Platform), Azure platform (functions, logic apps, cognitive services, AI integration) and enterprise products and solutions. Strong proficiency in API development, system integration and cloud-native architecture. Proven experience with front end and full stack development, knowledge of HTML/ CSS/JavaScript/TypeScript and exposure to frameworks such as React, Vue, NextJS, Node and Angular. Experience with AI/ML concepts, services (e.g. MS Copilot, OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry), intelligent agents and LLM-based services. Ability to quickly prototype and iterate solutions using modern tools, including low-code platforms where appropriate. Passion for problem-solving, curiosity to explore new technologies, and eagerness to bring ideas to life. Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and SecDevOps practices. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
