As we continue to deliver vibrant and engaging guest experiences, we are seeking an experienced Technical Operations Manager to oversee all technical operations and ensure the seamless delivery of our award-winning night experience, Astra Lumina. About the Role As our hands-on Technical Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the technical excellence and performance of Astra Lumina, our enchanted night experience, and all audio-visual systems across Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. This position ensures the ongoing success of the experience through strong operational leadership, proactive maintenance planning, and coordination with team members, contractors, suppliers, and creative partners, as well as duty management. You will be responsible for upholding the technical and artistic integrity of Astra Lumina, working closely with our License Partners, and the Operations team to ensure all elements of the experience operate seamlessly. The role involves planning and managing technical schedules, overseeing maintenance programs, and ensuring that every aspect of the show meets or exceeds safety and quality standards. You will manage the engagement of contractors and service providers for AV installation, repairs, and system upgrades, while maintaining accurate records of assets, maintenance schedules, and operational documentation. Working in partnership with the Head of Guest Experience, you will also contribute to budget planning and forecasting, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support ongoing operations. Beyond Astra Lumina, you will provide technical and staging advice across the Sanctuary, supporting internal teams and events with lighting, sound, and projection requirements. You will also support Duty Manager coverage as required. As a leader, you will guide and train team members in technical procedures, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and excellence. About You To be successful in this role, you are a proactive and technically proficient leader with strong experience in managing complex AV operations and immersive experiences. You have exceptional organisational skills, a sound understanding of AV systems, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, creative environment. Other skills we are looking for include: Proven experience managing technical operations or AV production in themed entertainment, attractions, or live events. Strong knowledge of audio-visual systems, lighting, projection, and show control systems. Experience working with contractors and external suppliers. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and technical teams. A collaborative mindset and passion for delivering high-quality guest experiences. Highly developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Relevant qualification e.g. Production Management or Multimedia or equivalent work experience in this industry. Demonstrated commitment to excellence and continuous improvement with the ability to model professional standards of conduct, personal presentation, behaviour, and integrity.
