About the Role They are seeking a qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join their Workshop team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Workshop Manager, this role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the company’s fleet of plant and equipment, including piling rigs, drilling rigs, and earthmoving machinery. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Carrying out servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment both in the workshop and onsite Diagnosing faults and performing corrective action to minimise downtime Responding to breakdowns and coordinating repairs internally or with third-party contractors where required Ensuring all plant and equipment is compliant, safe, and accompanied by up-to-date service records and risk assessments Maintaining stock of critical spare parts and consumables Organising workshop fuel, oil, and general maintenance requirements Recording and reporting all maintenance activities and updates via company systems Conducting audits and inspections of damaged equipment and supporting project teams as required Skills & Experience Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic (mandatory) Minimum 5 years’ experience working on heavy diesel, earthmoving, and construction equipment, including piling and drilling rigs Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrics, and mechanical systems Ability to read and interpret technical information and service manuals Sound fault-finding and problem-solving skills A hands-on approach with strong time management and organisational skills Effective communication and ability to work both independently and as part of a team Highly Regarded Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card with current competencies (Track Safety Awareness, Metro Safety & Environment Induction, Category 3 Medical) Construction Induction Training (White Card, face-to-face obtained) Rigging (Intermediate) or Dogging HRW Licence Heavy Combination (HC) Driver Licence Benefits Work with a respected Australian engineering and construction services provider Long-term career stability with genuine professional development opportunities Exposure to a wide variety of complex and large-scale infrastructure projects Competitive hourly rate plus overtime, allowances, and career growth opportunities Workshop based role with occasional site requirements across VIC and interstate Please note – this role requires full working rights in Australia.
