The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Competition, Regulation and Trade (CRT) team based in Melbourne with a focus on consumer law matters and the consumer sector more broadly. You will work on cutting-edge matters involving consumer protection, regulatory compliance (including compliance with Codes made under the Competition and Consumer Act), and investigations for major domestic and international clients. You will play a key role in advising on strategically and reputationally important investigations and related enforcement action brought by the ACCC, supporting clients through regulatory scrutiny and advising clients on all aspects of consumer law and compliance issues on an ongoing basis. Our clients operate in a wide range of industry sectors including fast moving consumer goods and retail more broadly, TMT, and banking and finance. What you’ll do Lead and manage significant consumer law disputes and regulatory investigations. Advise clients on compliance, enforcement risk, and strategic dispute resolution working with our market leading disputes practice. Collaborate with partners and senior stakeholders on multi-jurisdictional matters. Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to team development. Build strong client relationships and participate in business development initiatives. What you’ll bring 5 years’ experience in a leading dispute resolution or competition law practice, with a focus on consumer law disputes and regulatory investigations. Strong technical expertise and commercial acumen. Proven ability to manage complex matters and deliver under pressure. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional service to our clients. A collaborative approach with the ability to effectively manage junior lawyers and drive matters through to completion. An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.
