Job Description Position Title: EL1 Senior Policy Analyst Employment Type: Approximate 6-month contract with potential for extension Location: Canberra ACT, Melbourne VIC , or Sydney NSW Hourly Pay Rate: Negotiable on experience ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Senior Policy Analyst to join a Federal Government agency within the early childhood and youth policy space. This team plays a key role in supporting access to high-quality, affordable, and accessible early childhood education and care for Australian families. In this role, you will analyse complex business structures and arrangements to inform future government policy, funding, and regulatory decisions. Your insights will directly influence national programs designed to support children’s education and family participation in the workforce. Working under limited direction, you will collaborate with legal, financial, and policy experts to deliver evidence-based advice that promotes fairness, integrity, and sustainability in policy design. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct detailed analysis of corporate, trust, and group business structures. Identify and interpret strategic, financial, and operational drivers behind entity arrangements. Assess the impact of these structures on policy, funding, and regulatory frameworks. Work closely with legal, financial, and policy teams to develop informed advice. Prepare high-quality policy papers, briefing materials, and executive presentations. Provide clear, actionable recommendations that support sound policy and governance outcomes. Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting complex financial or legal information. Sound understanding of corporate structures, tax arrangements, or regulatory environments. Proven ability to translate technical analysis into clear, evidence-based policy advice. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail. Experience working in government policy, compliance, or regulatory settings. Degree in law, finance, economics, commerce, or public policy (highly regarded). WORK ARRANGEMENTS Offices available in Canberra, New South Wales & Victoria Hybrid working available – up to three days WFH per week (subject to operational requirements). Flexible hours between 7am and 7pm. (subject to operational requirements). ELIGIBILITY Australian citizenship is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
