The organisation Hunter Regional Conservatorium (HRC) is a proud member of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums and a leading provider of music education and performance across the Hunter region. A community-based, not-for-profit organisation, HRC delivers comprehensive programs for preschoolers, school-aged students, schools, educators, and adult learners, enriching the wider community through concerts, ensembles and outreach activities. Based in Muswellbrook with programs extending to Scone, Singleton and nearby towns, the Conservatorium plays a vital role in fostering creativity, connection and lifelong participation in the arts across the Upper Hunter. The opportunity Reporting to the Governance Committee and leading a dedicated team of educators and administrative staff, the Director will: Guide the strategic and operational direction of the Conservatorium, ensuring the delivery of outstanding teaching and performance programs across the region. Build meaningful relationships with schools, councils, and industry and community groups to grow engagement and secure diverse funding sources. Oversee budgets and funding agreements, ensuring financial sustainability and compliance with Department of Education requirements. Be a visible leader and ambassador, representing the Conservatorium across community events, partnerships and the NSW regional conservatorium network. About you You are an experienced and community-minded leader who combines strategic capability with hands-on practicality. You will bring: A background in education, music, or not-for-profit leadership, with a passion for the performing arts and community engagement. Strong financial, operational and people management skills, with the ability to balance educational and commercial priorities. A collaborative and authentic leadership style that builds trust, motivates others and fosters a positive, professional culture. Well-developed communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with schools, councils, industry and government partners. A practical, visible approach to leadership, including participation in community events and regional travel across Muswellbrook, Scone and surrounding towns.
