Davies Stewart is seeking a skilled and dedicated Parks & Gardens Team Member to join a progressive organisation located in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide, focused on maintaining and enhancing the beauty of the council region. This is a temporary employment opportunity with the opportunity for permanency for a hands-on professional to work within a small, multi-skilled team across parks, gardens, reserves, and streetscapes in Adelaide, South Australia. This role requires a proactive candidate who is comfortable working with autonomy, operating a diverse range of plant and tools, and delivering high-quality maintenance across the City. Key Responsibilities: Working under the instruction of Works Coordinators, you will be responsible for a wide scope of proactive and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring the city's green spaces are safe and beautiful. Your duties will include: Proactive Grounds Maintenance: Conducting essential horticultural tasks such as mowing, mulching, planting, watering, and intricate pruning of gardens and street trees. Infrastructure Maintenance: Installing and repairing irrigation systems, maintaining park furniture and BBQ's, and undertaking playground inspections. Reactive & Emergency Works: Responding to urgent needs like litter collection, removal of fallen trees/branches, clearing leaf debris, and collecting illegally-dumped waste. Plant Operation: Safely and efficiently operating a variety of equipment including ride-on mowers, chainsaws, brush cutters, elevated working platforms, and wood chippers. Safety & Compliance: Implementing appropriate traffic management measures at work sites and adhering strictly to Work Health & Safety principles. Teamwork: Working co-operatively within your assigned team and supporting the wider outdoor workforce, including the Arboriculture team, as required. Skills, Experience & Licenses Required: The ideal candidate will possess the following. Licenses & Tickets (Essential): Current Motor Vehicle Driver's License. Class MR (Medium Rigid) or greater License is mandatory. Chainsaw Competency Ticket and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Competency Ticket. Temporary Traffic Management Certificate. Horticultural Expertise: High level of knowledge and proven experience in horticultural best practice, including irrigation repairs, tree planting, and pruning. Machinery Experience: Broad experience in the safe and efficient operation of plant, machinery, and hand tools relevant to parks and gardens maintenance. Team & Safety Focus: Proven experience working effectively in a close team environment and a sound knowledge of WHS principles and work zone traffic management best practices. Clearances: The ability to obtain and maintain a National Criminal Record (Police) Clearance and a DHS Working With Children Clearance. A Certificate in Horticulture or significant vocational experience is highly desirable.
