About Quantum Brilliance QB is an Australian-German diamond quantum technology company that was founded in 2019 to commercialize technologies that were initially developed at the Australian National University and the University of Stuttgart. QB’s mission is to deliver mass-deployable quantum technology by focusing on the development and manufacturing of advanced diamond materials and integrated diamond quantum micro-devices. With labs located in Australia (Melbourne & Canberra) and Germany (Stuttgart & Freiburg) and a recently opened office in Tokyo, Japan, QB has grown to almost 100 staff over the past 5 years and has attracted almost $ 100M in venture capital and contract revenue. The Quantum Diamond Foundry (QDF) The QDF was founded in 2025 as a subsidiary of Quantum Brilliance Group (QB). Its mission is to unlock the potential of diamond quantum technologies through the supply of high-performance quantum diamond at scale. Specifically, QDF will: deliver the diamond substrates required by QB to accelerate development and eventually manufacturing of integrated quantum chips deliver the diamond materials that are required by the broader diamond quantum technology industry to accelerate technology development and commercialization provide material development, characterization and test, and design and simulation services as needed to support the industry. QDF’s approach to achieving its mission is to partner with the established major manufacturers of quantum-grade diamond and perform characterization and test services that enable them to improve their existing substrates develop new epilayer materials and processes to transfer to their production tools to create superior substrates and materials develop design and simulation software tools that enable faster and more precise material and device design. The QDF is organized into three interconnected teams: Modelling, Metrology, and Materials; who utilizes QDF’s comprehensive laboratory located in Notting Hill, Melbourne, as well as the facilities of its university and industry partners across Melbourne. The R ole The Technical Director of Material and Metrology will lead the materials and metrology teams and manage their associated project portfolio, operations and facilities. They will report to the CSO (Chief Scientific Officer) alongside the Technical Director of Modelling, who leads the Modelling team. Their mission is to deliver the QDF material and metrology objectives under the supervision of the BU Leader and in alignment with QDF and QB strategy. Duties and responsibilities Project portfolio management Personnel management Facilities management WH&S management R&D management Partner, supplier and customer management Represent QDF internally and externally Contribute to QDF strategy and business development as required by the BU Leader Personal traits, experience and attributes This will require someone who can run technical programs, teams and operations to deliver results.
