We're on the lookout for a Senior Linux/Perl Engineer to join an enterprise environment supporting mission-critical ISE applications . You'll be diving into legacy Perl code , adding new features, improving performance, and automating infrastructure operations — all while ensuring system stability and scalability. Key Responsibilities Maintain and extend existing Perl modules and legacy codebases Build custom monitoring and alerting scripts for network events Troubleshoot and optimise Linux systems and application performance Implement new features and automation in Perl, Python, and Bash Manage network configurations (firewalls, routing, VLANs, NAT, Virtual IPs) Administer and tune MySQL/PostgreSQL databases, including Galera Clusters Ensure replication integrity, failover , and recovery procedures Support load balancing and containerisation (HAProxy, NGINX, Docker) Collaborate with operations and security teams to maintain uptime and compliance Skills & Experience Essential: Expert in Perl - debugging, refactoring, and feature development Strong Linux administration skills Sound knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VLANs, routing) Experience with Ansible or other configuration management tools Solid database administration and optimisation experience (MySQL/Postgres) Exposure to Galera Cluster and replication management Scripting experience with Python and Bash Experience with Docker , HAProxy , or NGINX Desirable: Experience setting up DNS services Knowledge of GitLab CI/CD pipelines Monitoring & alerting tools ( Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios ) Workflow automation ( Apache Airflow ) Understanding of security best practices and vulnerability scanning You'll Succeed If You: ✅ Thrive in a technically challenging, fast-moving environment ✅ Enjoy working end-to-end across infrastructure, application, and network layers ✅ Can balance legacy system management with modern automation practices
