The Radiopharmaceutical Science Specialist (Registrar) working in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and PET at Prince of Wales Hospital, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLDH) to provide timely, high quality and comprehensive clinical radiopharmaceutical services. The position is intended for an early career scientist with an interest in the field of Radiopharmaceutical Sciences. The position is a fixed 3-year contract. This is a 12-month rolling contract, renewable annually for up to 3 years, subject to satisfactory performance and achievement of pre-agreed progression milestones determined by ACPSEM and the employer. At the end of the 3-year period, you will be eligible for certification and registration as a Radiopharmaceutical Science Specialist provided all requirements have been achieved. The commencement salary will be Snr Hospital Scientist Year 1 should the candidate meet the required expectations. The successful applicant will support the: Provision of a timely, high quality and comprehensive clinical radiopharmaceutical service to the Department of Nuclear Medicine and PET, POWH. Development of the range of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals available to the clinic. Radiopharmaceutical research program that meets with the clinical trials activities and research goals of the Department, SESLHD and University of New South Wales (UNSW). Assist radiopharmaceutical science development in SESLHD and network partners by assisting the establishment or quality improvement of radiopharmaceutical services where required. Work with multiple stakeholders to develop radiochemistry and nuclear medicine research and teaching within the POWH/UNSW hospital precinct. Participate in collaborative research projects in radiochemistry /nuclear medicine to support translational research from tracer development through to preclinical and clinical studies, including experimental planning, preparation of grant applications and publication of results. Contribute to the strategic planning and further development of the precinct, particularly in radiochemistry and nuclear medicine. Selection Criteria Post graduate degree in science (chemistry/ radiochemistry or suitable alternative) at least equivalent to the degree of Master of Science of an approved university, or such other qualifications deemed by the employer to be equivalent and extensive post graduate experience in an appropriate scientific field. Demonstrated knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice requirements for radiopharmaceutical production laboratory, including current knowledge of relevant legislative requirements and radiation safety principles and practice. Demonstrated laboratory experience or similar, in manufacturing and quality control in chemical synthesis, or pharmaceutical or related production. Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety regulations, principles and practices. Demonstrated a high level of communication skills,including presenting. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member while achieving professional development goals. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
