The Bureau of Meteorology is moving into a new phase of data management and is seeking a skilled and experienced data governance professional to help manage and protect some of Australia’s most critical and enduring data assets—spanning back to the 1800s. This role will assist the organisation to unlock the value of our vast environmental datasets by making them more accessible, discoverable and trusted. While the successful candidate for this position will bring a strong focus on compliance and stakeholder engagement, we are also establishing a merit pool to support future recruitment into our Data Governance team. Eligibility The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: providing advice on compliance to relevant legislation and policy supporting the Chief Data Officer (CDO) to deliver an, enterprise-wide, data compliance function providing oversight of, and where appropriate, implementation (including doing, advising and coordinating) of data integration and ETL practices to promote interoperability and data sharing from a Data Governance perspective. providing oversight of, and where appropriate, implementation of master data, metadata and reference data standards providing advice to projects on good data management practices. identification of risks and opportunities to improve data management practices across the enterprise. comply with all Bureau work, health and safety and environment policies and procedures, and take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be affected by your conduct. be aware of, and apply as necessary, the principles and practices of the various elements of the Bureau's Diversity and Inclusion policies.
