Your Opportunity As a Vocational Placement Officer you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to Region students, both domestic and international, with a focus on assisting students to enter the workforce through initiatives/opportunities with host employers. This is a fixed-term temporary opportunity and it reports to the Operational Supervisor. The position will be based primarily at one of our Region's four locations (Acacia Ridge, Alexandra Hills, Eagle Farm and Bracken Ridge) however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the success of cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling SkillsTech’s core values and Agreed Behaviours and the established TAFE Queensland values of Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, Showing Initiative, and Safety First. Co-ordinate vocational placement arrangements for domestic and international students through liaison with potential host employers, including proactively seeking and capitalising on new vocational placement/work experience prospects throughout the local and broader community. Liaise directly with Region domestic and international students to identify suitable vocational placement opportunities, ensuring alignment with educational requirements and individual student needs, and undertake a range of associated administrative tasks including: the preparation of vocational placement agreements and associated documentation, including ensuring that appropriate insurance coverage is in place, where required; maintaining comprehensive and accurate records of vocational placement arrangements, including storage and maintenance of documentation in accordance with established records management procedures and protocols; the preparation of reports, planning documentation and other written correspondence relevant to the vocational placement arrangements; and monitoring student vocational placement progression, identifying any relevant concerns, proposing workable solutions and maximising program occupancy to deliver a high level of efficiency in vocational placement for the Region. Provide administrative support during compliance related activities and provide input into the development of region-specific action plans and strategies as they relate to the activity of vocational placement. Liaise with relevant Government Departments and agencies regarding visa requirements, and changes to legislation relevant to vocational placement for international students. Build and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships, both within the Region and across TAFE Queensland, working collaboratively with fellow Vocational Placement Officers to build capacity, capability and a consistent TAFE Queensland approach to vocational placement. Assist and support employees within the EDS team to appropriately assess individual student and employer suitability and ensure that EDS team members are kept informed of changes to policies and/or procedures related to vocational placement/work experience. Utilise a range of software applications and student management systems (SMS, Celcat and Pathways) to perform the administrative functions throughout the domestic and international training lifecycle based on educational delivery requirements. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through active participation in the development and review of business processes, documentation and practices as they relate to vocational placement/work experience. Proactively participate in local Performance Planning and Development (PPD) processes, seeking opportunities for self-development and contributing to the development of the team through knowledge sharing and the provision of support, guidance and collaboration. How you will be assessed Sound knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, legislative frameworks and/or policies and procedures as they relate to the activity of vocational placement for domestic and international students. Well-developed interpersonal, communication and customer service skills as evidenced by a record of achievement in liaising with students, employers and Government departments/agencies. Demonstrated ability to maintain comprehensive records relating to vocational placement functions, monitor employment trends and prepare informative and useful reports, planning documents and other related correspondence. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a range of computerised systems and applications relevant to the activities of the Educational Delivery Support team. Demonstrated problem solving and organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise work, respond to changing circumstances and effectively contribute to a high performing team, identifying opportunities for business improvement and proactively seeking and facilitating opportunities for self development.
