About us The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes. The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state. Purpose of the role Uniforms and Logistics is responsible for the provision of uniforms, personal protective equipment (PPE) and operational equipment to all services and streams of the department. The logistics team manages the warehousing and supply of uniforms, PPE and operational equipment to the QFD staff and volunteer members, and provides supporting documentation, workforce engagement and customer service to meet service delivery requirements. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will contribute to the effective delivery of the QFD Uniforms and Logistics Program. You will be responsible for the development and management of logistics procedures and documentation, including the QFD catalogue, online content and workforce communications. The position assists with cost centre management and maintenance, transition planning and task coordination to maintain program governance, ensure compliance, streamline logistics operations and safeguard the continuity of uniforms and equipment services for staff and volunteers. Key requirements Highly desirable requirements Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary supply chain management practices, contract management principles and project management methodologies. Proficiency in the use of SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Suite, data modelling, planning and analytics. Strong written and verbal communications skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Proven ability to establish, manage and monitor relationships with external logistics and warehousing providers, including oversight of service performance and delivery outcomes. Your key accountabilities Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: Develop, implement, review and maintain logistics policies, practices and procedures to support the QFD Uniforms and Logistics Program, ensuring compliance with organisational standards and government requirements. Support end-to-end supply chain management for uniforms, PPE and operational equipment, ensuring services meet value-for-money, safety, risk, quality, and governance objectives. Contribute and/or support the delivery of logistics projects and transition initiatives, including the design and implementation of improved processes, systems and solutions that enhance operational capability. Undertake research, analysis and reporting to support decision-making and identify opportunities for improved efficiency, risk management and recommendations for improvement in service delivery. Contribute to workforce communications and produce innovative and creative content such as newsletters and guidance material, including presentations to support the program of and staff and volunteer engagement. Contract management oversight of the PPE laundering, decontamination, maintenance and repair service i.e. service level performance, actioning internal and service provider queries, PPE life cycle management. Maintain accurate cost centre information and contribute to financial monitoring, forecasting and reporting to support program budget management and accountability. Develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support program activities and ensure effective service delivery and business objectives are achieved.
