About the Role We are seeking a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) or General Practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary treatment team (MDT) at Hader Clinic Queensland’s private detox hospital in Gympie. In this role, you will provide high-quality medical leadership and clinical oversight to ensure the safe and effective delivery of detoxification and withdrawal management services. You will work closely with psychiatrist, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, and other allied health professionals to deliver an integrated, patient-centred model of care. Key Responsibilities Provide medical assessments, clinical oversight, and detoxification management for clients admitted to the AOD unit. Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans in collaboration with the MDT. Support best-practice standards in AOD withdrawal, pharmacotherapy, and risk management. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior medical and nursing staff. Participate in case reviews, clinical governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives. Contribute to continuous improvement of clinical outcomes and patient safety within the service. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Fellowship with RACGP or equivalent, with unrestricted AHPRA registration. Proven experience in Addiction Medicine, or General Practice, (experience in AOD or mental health settings highly desirable). A sound understanding of detoxification protocols and withdrawal management. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork.
