The position works across a 24-hour roster and can involve day, evening, weekend sleepover and overnight stand-up work. About the role: MacKillop Family Services is seeking Residential Care Workers to join our East Metro Out of Home Care (OOHC) programs. Our programs provide support for young people with high and complex needs, as well as a therapeutically orientated program for young people in protective placements. Our Residential Services offer safe and supportive accommodation for children and young people referred through the Child Protection system. As a Residential Care Worker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the unit, which include responding to the emotional and practical needs of young people, supporting their development and independence, and maintains a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities include engaging in therapeutic care practices, completing household duties, and fulfilling administrative requirements. We have multiple opportunities available in the Eastern Region of Melbourne, VIC within our Out of Home Care program. The position reports to the Residential Care Coordinator/House Supervisor. Key Selection Criteria: To be successful in this role, you will have: A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care or other similar or relevant tertiary qualifications. A genuine interest in young people and their wellbeing. Demonstrate empathy for young people in our care in an open minded and nonjudgmental manner. Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation including the capacity to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability and consistency.
