Help bring comfort, connection and companionship to people living with dementia. The Specialist Dementia Care Pathway (SDCP) Cottages in Cardiff offer a calm, supportive environment for individuals living with complex dementia. We are currently seeking Volunteer Visitors to help enrich the lives of our residents through meaningful social interaction and compassionate companionship. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who have: - Personal or professional experience supporting someone living with dementia, or - A basic understanding of dementia as a clinical condition, including its emotional and cognitive impacts. - Empathy and a respectful approach to individuals with cognitive difficulties Whether it’s sharing a quiet moment, chatting over a cup of tea, reading aloud, listening to music together, or simply being present, your time can make a world of difference to someone’s day. Training, ongoing support, and supervision will be provided to help you feel confident and comfortable in your role. Your impact Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
