The key duties of the position include The Role The Work Experience Manager role is an exciting and rewarding role in a high-tempo, responsive environment, particularly if you are interested in Defence. In this role: You will negotiate, facilitate and deliver Defence work experience opportunities for high school and tertiary students, showcasing Defence careers. You will build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including Defence personnel, schools, parents and youth and diversity related organisations. As the leader of a small team, you will work with autonomy and accountability to ensure the delivery of youth safe programs for your region. You will communicate goals and priorities clearly and be responsible for assigning resources to deliver the work experience programs. At times, the role can be very busy with strict deadlines. You will quickly gain a strong connection to Defence's purpose, and be provided with first hand opportunities to experience or observe the day-to-day activities that working in Defence provides. The workplace environment requirements for this role includes: This role requires the incumbent to attend particular sites in SA to deliver and develop programs. Employees are supported with flexible working arrangements outside these physical operational requirements. Most work will be office-based or working from home, however when supervising youth programs or promoting work experience programs, the Work Experience Manager (WEM) may be required to stand for extended periods or walk/participate in activities on a Defence base. With notice, funded travel to Defence bases across SA is required to attend or supervise work experience placements and promote Defence work experience program at career expos and Defence open days. About our Team The Youth Policy and Programs Directorate is a strategic centre for youth engagement, with three teams delivering Youth Policy, Youth Pathways and the Defence Work Experience Program. Our teams adopt a One Defence approach in the management of their responsibilities and champion Defence's enterprise-wide vision and principles of youth engagement, including the development and implementation of enterprise-wide Defence youth protection and engagement related policies, training and education and the delivery of youth programs. Youth Policy and Programs aims to be an exemplar in delivering the highly regarded Defence Work Experience Programs and Youth Pathways initiatives across Australia. The Directorate is actively driving the harmonisation of youth programs across the department. Our programs and initiatives contribute towards personal and professional development of young people, preparing them for future challenges whilst they gain exposure to the many careers available within Defence.
