Overview KPMG Law’s Tax Dispute Resolution & Controversy team are leading experts recognised in the Legal 500 and International Tax Review. The team assists organisations and individuals in preparing for, managing and resolving tax disputes while maintaining effective working relationships with revenue authorities. We are looking for lawyers with experience in tax, tax law and tax disputes. Candidates with over 10 years’ experience in an advisory firm, Big 4, traditional law firms or Government are invited to apply. Joining KPMG Law provides an opportunity to be a key part of a growing team that advises a broad range of clients including large multinationals, high‑net‑worth individuals and other respected clients on domestic and cross‑border tax issues in a rapidly changing environment. Responsibilities Work with clients in preparing for and resolving risk reviews, audits and disputes with the ATO, AusIndustry and State/Territory revenue authorities, including working on complex ATO audits, preparing objections, briefing counsel and advising on risk reviews, audits, independent reviews and tax litigation. Collaborate with a range of clients and specialists across KPMG Law and KPMG to develop written and oral advocacy skills and provide legal advice (including taxation law and administrative law). Work nationally across engagements with partners and team members from other states and jurisdictions. Collaborate with other specialist groups across KPMG’s Deals, Tax & Legal practice in Australia and internationally, including with multinational clients. Your Experience To be considered, your qualifications, skills and experience could include: Previous experience in corporate tax, international tax, tax law and/or tax dispute resolution and controversy in an advisory or Big 4 professional services firm, a law firm or the Australian Taxation Office (favourable). Ability to manage multiple complex projects with cross‑divisional collaboration, taking accountability for scope, timely delivery and quality. Ability to negotiate with discretion with internal or external parties such as clients and government bodies. Ability to establish relationship plans to build and sustain effective senior‑level client relationships. Act as a constructive leader and coach, participate in culture initiatives, demonstrate a growth mindset and contribute to the firm’s culture. Ability to enable career progression for high‑potential people by identifying development needs and providing guidance to grow skill sets. Ability to establish and sustain a strong professional presence in the marketplace through networking, speaking and contributing to external professional organisations. Qualifications A degree in Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Finance or Law, and/or undertaking/completion of the CA/CPA.
