The Role: We are looking for an experienced Cook or Chef who is passionate about a person-centred approach to care, to join our Catering Team. This is a permanent part time position including weekends. Reporting to the Residential Service Manager, the Chef/Cook is responsible for providing a nutritious, appetising, and varied menu for residents that enhances their quality of life. This menu is nutritionally sound, is aligned to residents' individual medical and other needs and preferences, the Aged Care Quality standards, regulatory requirements and is delivered within budget. What you will do: Plan, prepare, and cook meals that are tasty, nutritious, and meet residents' individual needs. Understanding of modified diets, including those for dementia care, and the nutritional needs of the elderly. Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintains temperature and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, food storage, and work areas. Monitor food supplies, use stock in an effective and economic manner to minimise waste. Works collaboratively with the team, treats all residents, clients, and visitors with courteously and respect. Who are you and what will you bring: At least 1-2 years’ experience as a Chef or a Cook in a residential aged care setting Completed Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery Completed Food Safety Supervisor Course (desirable or willing to obtain) Excellent communication skills (written, verbal & interpersonal) Hold and maintain NDIS Worker Check (or willing to obtain) This position requires full-time availability and unrestricted working rights in Australia Applicants must have received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
