Student Enrichment and Success (SES) This is a full-time fixed term position through to January 2027 with salary in the range $115,645 - $129,654 (HEW 8), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. Based at our St Lucia campus About This Opportunity We are seeking a dynamic leader as the Manager, Career Development Learning within SES. You will provide strategic and operational leadership to the central UQ career development learning team, overseeing the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of high-quality career services for students across all disciplines and stages of study. This role requires close collaboration with academic and professional stakeholders to identify innovative solutions, establish robust performance measures, and ensure service excellence across all curricular and co-curricular offerings. Key responsibilities will include: Strategic Leadership and Team Management Provide strategic and operational leadership to the career development learning team, which includes four key streams; Employability Facilitation, Career Development Design, Industry Engagement and Employability Ambassadors ensuring efficient workload management and high-quality service delivery. Service Design and Continuous Improvement Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of high-quality career development learning services across all student disciplines and study stages. This requires close collaboration with key stakeholders to identify innovative solutions and enhance student engagement in both curricular and extracurricular spaces. Performance Monitoring and Governance Establish meaningful performance measures and feedback mechanisms to effectively monitor service levels and evidence impact. You will also be responsible for developing the necessary policies, systems, and team structures to ensure service excellence for all internal and external stakeholders. Stakeholder Engagement and Financial Oversight Manage relationships with key industry partners and graduate recruiters in partnership with various UQ portfolios. You will also oversee and prepare budget summaries related to service delivery and act as a financial delegate, including leading the full design, logistics, budget, and evaluation of the annual employability week event. About You Postgraduate qualifications and over five years of relevant experience, or equivalent extensive experience. This includes demonstrated experience managing and leading a team to deliver effective, student-centred services, with the ability to prioritise workloads and work proactively in a high-pressure environment. Advanced interpersonal and relationship management skills. This includes experience working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including students, academic staff, senior management, and external partners, to achieve shared aims and objectives. Demonstrated ability to manage, report, and analyse complex data sets to produce recommendations for service improvements across a complex organisation. You can also develop clear project plans and timelines, monitor progress, and manage budgets to required standards. Demonstrated knowledge of current issues in the Australian higher education sector, including student retention, success, and national/international employability issues. Experience supporting staff and students in the use of educational technologies to facilitate teaching, learning, and the delivery of career development learning is also essential. You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
