As the Chief Executive Officer of an Independent Statutory Body established by the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act (NT) 1989 (the Act) be the expert in charge of regulating the protection of Aboriginal sacred sites across the Northern Territory. In accordance with the Act provide the highest-level advice to the relevant Minister of the Northern Territory Government, subject to the direction of the 12 member Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority Board on all matters relating to balancing the aspirations of Aboriginal and all other peoples of the Territory for their economic, cultural and social advancement. Lead the Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority in all organisational matters including anthropological, research, policy, governance, compliance, litigation, and financial management. Influence and strategically coordinate relationships with Northern Territory land councils, major project proponents and industry peak bodies, Australian and Northern Territory Government Heads of Department and Ministers to protect sacred sites in the development and use of land across the Northern Territory in compliance with the Act. This position is a statutory appointment made by the Administrator of the Northern Territory in accordance with the Act. An Executive contract up to 4 years may be offered. n
