About the Role Australia's wholesale energy markets are experiencing significant transformation with increasing renewable penetration, battery storage deployment, and evolving trading dynamics. Our client is seeking an Origination Associate to support their Power Origination team in managing client relationships, analysing market opportunities, and supporting commercial transaction processes across the NEM. This is an excellent opportunity for an analytically-minded professional to develop expertise in energy trading and origination whilst working directly with commercial teams, clients, and market participants. You will gain hands-on experience in power purchase agreements, energy storage contracts, and wholesale market operations. Key Responsibilities Support the Power Origination team in managing client relationships and commercial pipeline Assist with onboarding processes for new counterparties and trading relationships Conduct market analysis and financial modelling for energy trading opportunities Support contract negotiations for power purchase agreements, storage contracts, and trading arrangements Coordinate with legal, finance, and risk teams on transaction structuring and documentation Prepare presentations and analysis for internal stakeholders and external clients Monitor NEM market developments, pricing trends, and regulatory changes Maintain client databases and relationship management systems Attend industry conferences and networking events to build market knowledge Support due diligence processes for new commercial opportunities Assist with portfolio reporting and performance analysis Track regulatory developments affecting energy trading and origination activities What You'll Bring Our client is seeking a candidate who has: Professional with up to 3 years' experience in energy markets, financial services, or commercial analysis Strong interest in electricity markets, renewable energy, and energy trading Excellent analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modelling Outstanding presentation skills with experience preparing PowerPoint materials for senior stakeholders Strong numerical and quantitative capabilities with attention to detail Excellent communication skills for client interaction and internal coordination Ability to work effectively in fast-paced trading floor or commercial environment Highly organised with strong time management and project coordination skills Self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines Genuine interest in Australia's energy transition and wholesale power markets Highly Regarded: Degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, or related quantitative discipline Understanding of National Electricity Market operations and wholesale trading Experience with energy contracts, power purchase agreements, or commercial negotiations Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, battery storage, or grid services Previous experience in energy sector, financial markets, or trading environments Why Apply?
