Job Description The Project The Alkimos SeaWater Alliance project will deliver WA's next major water source - A new seawater desalination plant at Alkimos. At completion of stage 1 the plant will supply up to 50 billion litres of clean, safe drinking water to millions of Western Australians each year. The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks. We are seeking a variety of different skills and knowledge including: Steel Fixers: Accurately read and interpret working plans and schedules Reo placement and prefabricate mats Cut and resize steel bars or mesh to the required length using bolt cutters, guillotines and power saws Assemble reinforcing bars or mesh by welding, wiring or clipping into designated positions within the concrete structure Fabricate steel reinforcement components such as beams, footing pads or special units Join the prefabricated units and position the reinforcement in preparation for concrete pours Clean and remove excess wire-ties, ensuring the reinforcement is tidy and secure Support workflow by assisting with concrete placement and performing other general duties where necessary, to meet operational demands Concreters : Highly skilled and familiar with all aspects of civil concreting Proven experience in pouring, screeding, and finishing concrete to a high standard Willingness to assist form workers and steel fixers as required to support overall site productivity Formwork Carpenters : Construct and dismantle conventional and formwork systems for complex concrete structures. Constructing water retaining structures. All round experience with formwork, steel fixing and concrete finishing favourable as well as the ability to operate earthmoving equipment Great understanding and adherence of all Health and Safety policies and Procedures Apprentices/trainees – We’re looking for enthusiastic, proactive individuals to begin a career as a Civil Construction Apprentice. This full-time, two-year apprenticeship combines hands-on experience on real construction projects with paid study time to complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction through our preferred Registered Training Organisation. What You’ll Learn and Do As part of the Acciona team, you’ll develop practical skills in: Infrastructure works – maintenance and construction of key civil projects Pipeline construction and repair – trenching, bedding, and pipe laying Concrete work – formwork construction, placement, and finishing General labouring – supporting road, drainage, and other civil assets Traffic control operations – following approved work plans and safety standards Plant and equipment use – safe operation and maintenance of small plant and handheld power tools Your work will directly contribute to projects that benefit the wider community while setting the foundation for a long-term career in civil construction.
