Commencing Term 1, 2026 we have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Department in English. As Head of Department, you will play a pivotal role in driving high-quality learning and teaching outcomes. This position requires strong leadership across pedagogy, curriculum design, staff development, student performance, and operational management. Your Role Will Include Pedagogical Leadership: Lead curriculum development, assessment practices, and innovative teaching strategies aligned with NESA requirements and the College’s educational vision Team Leadership: Inspire and mentor a team of educators, supporting recruitment, performance, coaching, and professional growth Student Outcomes: Monitor and evaluate student performance, guiding staff in creating individualised learning plans and interventions Operational Oversight: Manage departmental budgets, resources, and compliance with College policies and WH&S standards Community Engagement: Promote the College’s mission, values, and Jewish ethos through inclusive and respectful leadership What We’re Looking For NESA-accredited teacher with relevant experience as a Head of Department or Assistant Head of Department Proven experience in educational leadership, ideally within a high school setting Deep understanding of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment practices Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and inspire teams Commitment to student wellbeing and academic success Ability to manage resources and budgets effectively Valid Working with Children Check, First Aid & CPR certification A strong work ethic, displaying determination, self-motivation and curiosity Why choose Moriah College?
